The Mosquito Crash

Notes by Betty Rogers (Nee: Price)

The aircraft crashed behind Whitney’s, near to Mr. Mrs. Prices bungalow, and witnessed by the Price family. Betty asked her dad, if it was a big bomb with lots of little bombs shooting from it. This description by a child is properly the best description which could be given.

Mr. Price did go and look at the burning wreck, but the girls were not allowed.

The crash investigators clearing the wreck stayed at the Prices, the family had no option, they were told they had to put them up.

One of the men gave Mr. Price a knife from the wreck, as a useful item and memento.

They also gave Betty the unused parachute so she could use the beautiful material; it was a creamy silk, the panels were carefully unpicked and she made two beautiful silk nightdresses.
